ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A second suspect has been arraigned in an armed carjacking near Allendale that turned into a police pursuit last week.
Last Friday (Dec. 18, 2020), Tyane Jamar Barnes of Grandville was arrested without incident. He had been sought by detectives for his alleged role in a Dec. 16 carjacking and attempted robbery at the Locale Apartments complex off of Pierce Street around 10:45 PM. He was considered to be armed and dangerous at the time the search began, shortly after a getaway vehicle had crashed in Grandville, leading to the arrest of Brandon Michael McBride.
The two men allegedly stole a vehicle from a victim at the complex, and a chase ensued when the vehicle was spotted by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies near Jenison. Barnes was able to escape on foot at the time of the crash.
Both McBride and Barnes have been arraigned on charges of armed robbery, carjacking, fleeing and eluding, and felony firearms. Barnes also has an additional possession of a stolen credit cart count against him. The two men, both aged 18, are currently in the Ottawa County Jail on $150,000 bond each.
The case remains open, and anyone with any relevant information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer.
