Constance Howe Stanulis (née Langan), our darling, feisty mom passed away after complications from a fall on December 20, 2020.
She was born June 6, 1930 in Boston to Thelma and James Langan, younger sister to Jackie, and had fond memories of visiting the family home in Maine and looking for starfishes as a young girl. She particularly loved her Uncle Gauga, a physical therapist who helped her manage the “club foot” that needed bracing.
The family later moved to Detroit where she, beautiful president of her Redford High sorority, stole the heart of Charles Stanulis. They were married for 56 years when he passed away in 2008.
She was executive secretary to the Dean of the Business School at MSU and later active in church and her children’s schools. She was an enthusiastic traveler to China, Iceland, Australia, Fiji, Europe, Bermuda and her beloved Mackinac Island.
Mom was an accomplished cook, and her apple pies were beyond compare. She lived for 20 years at Freedom Village where she especially enjoyed playing (and winning) bridge.
She is survived by her loving children: Lisa Russell (Kevin), Robert Stanulis (Teresa), Tom Stanulis (Randi); grandchildren: Lauren (Brendan O’Brien) Kim, Alex (Megan McEvoy), Eric, James, Scot, Alex; and great-grandchildren: Liam, Declan and Dylan.
No services are planned at this time. The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. If you would like to leave a message for Connie’s family, please visit www.langelandsterenberg.com.
