HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A term popular during World War II has become popular again today.
“Allies” described the relationship between the US, Great Britain and the Soviet Union during the war, and the term “ally” has had a renewed interest recently in dealing with helping others in various matters.
On Thursday evening, the Holland Museum stages a virtual panel discussion entitled “Doing the Work: Authentic Allyship.” According to Museum Executive Director Ricki Levine, a five-member panel, headed by Christine Mwangi of Grounded in Equity, will discuss what effective allyship has meant to them and how their allies have impacted their lives for the better.
“This is part of our ‘Cultural Lens’ series,” Levine said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during her monthly appearance on Tuesday. “This is a series of programs that talk about people in marginalized communities, celebrating our diversity. Not all of it is really heavy stuff; some of it is really fun and uplifting as well.”
The adult program is free, with donations to the Holland Museum appreciated. Those wishing to follow the 7-8:30 PM program on Thursday live, including participating in questions to the panel, need to register online through the Museum’s website. Replays will be available afterwards for a limited time through the website and on the Museum’s YouTube Channel.
