Donald “Beek” Beekman, age 86, of Holland, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called home to his Lord and Savior, on Friday, December 4, 2020.
Don graduated from Holland High School in 1952 and started working at Baker Furniture. In 1954, he joined the United States Army and got engaged to his high school sweetheart, Myrna Monetza. They were married on January 21, 1955 in Holland, MI. Don retired from Holland Motor (TNT) in 1994, after 33 years of service. Following both of their retirements, they enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Don will be greatly missed for his passion for life, charisma, sense of humor, generosity, helping neighbors and friends, and just loved to be around people.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Myrna in 2017. Surviving are his children, Randy and Mary Beekman, Laurie and Randy Bezile, and Mark and Jill Beekman; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Megan and Bryan VerWys (Sophia and Hattie), Kendra and Wesley Garmon, Zachary Bezile, Mitchell Beekman, and Andrew Beekman; sisters, Arlene Northuis, Shirley and Wayne Larsen, and Carol Haverdink; sisters-in-laws, Mary Mowery and Nancy Meyer; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
No services or visitations are scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel.
