HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 57-year-old Grand Rapids man was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle just east of the Holland city limits on Thursday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, the unnamed man had been walking in the middle of Clover Avenue just before Chicago Drive shortly after 1 PM when a pickup truck, heading northbound on the side street, slowed down upon approaching the pedestrian. According to that motorist, a 46-year-old Holland man, the pedestrian, “for an unknown reason,” said Wendt, moved in front of the vehicle and was struck.
The Grand Rapids man was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries; the motorist was not hurt, as the incident remains under investigation.
