HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Property will be a major focus of tonight’s Holland City Council meeting.
The panel will consider a pair of tax abatement proposals. One is for Hudsonville Creamery and Ice Cream Company, which is planning a 150,000 square foot expansion of its current E. 48th Street facility to add a Cold Storage Distribution section. The $51.4 million-dollar project would create 45 additional full-time jobs within a couple of years of its completion, and company officials say it wouldn’t require any additional infrastructure needs or have any adverse environmental impact.
The other proposal is for Perrigo to build a 357,000 square foot new warehouse off of Interchange Drive near Lincoln Road (M-40), meant for distribution and manufacturing operation expansion. The nearly $13 million-dollar project would create 40 additional full-time jobs within a couple of years of its completion, and company officials say it wouldn’t require any additional infrastructure needs or have any adverse environmental impact.
There will also be a public hearing ahead of a decision to declare a nearly six thousand square foot public parcel at the intersection of Lincoln Road (M-40) and Interchange Drive as surplus property, allowing the city to sell the land.
Due to the state Department of Health and Human Services’ current restrictions on indoor public gatherings, the Holland City Council meeting at 6:30 PM this evening will be held virtually, with a link to the agenda and how the public can observe and comment on the proceedings here.
