HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A local non-profit is putting a new spin on the “Giving Tuesday” effort that traditionally comes on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity is asking the community to contribute to a “Giving Tools-Day.” According to Development Director Dave Rozman, it’s an effort for allowing volunteers to have the tools they need to continue building homes for needy families. “The volunteers are important, and they’re out there every week, but if we don’t have enough tools to do the job, we can’t build the houses,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during a Monday appearance. “Right now, we have four different houses being built, and we need more tools. Tools get worn out over time, and if you have 10 volunteers on a build site, you want to have enough tools for each of them to do the job at hand.”
The community can download wish lists for Menards and/or Lowe’s, as well as visit an online registry, through the Lakeshore Habitat website, with purchases either shipped directly to Lakeshore Habitat or dropped off at the charity’s office off of Riley Street on Holland’s North Side.
