LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Articles of Impeachment have been introduced against Governor Whitmer by three Republican lawmakers, despite urging from the state House Speaker not to proceed.
The resolution, introduced Thursday by Reps. Matt Maddock, Beau LaFave, and Daire Rendon, stated that Whitmer “has exceeded her constitutional authority, violated the constitutional rights of the people of Michigan, issued orders that are not in the best interests of the people of this state, and used the Pandemic as an opportunity to reward political allies.”
House Speaker Lee Chatfield had stated Wednesday that Republicans are not the party to impeach someone because of a disagreement.
The Governor’s office issued a statement that stated that Whitmer “doesn’t have any time for partisan politics or people who don’t wear masks, don’t believe in science, and don’t have a plan to fight this virus.”
