John “Frito” Freeman, age 73 of Spring Lake, passed away surrounded by his family on November 12, 2020.
Born with a need for speed, John had a love for motorcycles that would stay with him all of his life. He and his wife Sheila would often hit the road together, her riding on the back of his bike with him. He was a member of the local Road Knights, where he made many life-long friends. He also enjoyed trying his luck at Gun Lake Casino, spending time on the water fishing, and cooking meals for those he loved. Most important to John though was family – his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to him.
John was preceded in death by his son Rob, his father and mother Luther and Valeria, and his sister Linda Barber.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Sheila; Children: Scott and Mikki Northuis, Heather and Kory Huston; Grandchildren: Leigh Ann, Riley, Chandler, Destini, Abbi, Jacob, Calieb, Kelly, Katie, Kari; Great-grandchildren: Caysen, Rozlyn, Sophie; Brother Randy and Evon Freeman; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
A service for family will be held on Saturday, November 21 at Lakeshore Memorial Services. Memorials may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
