DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Wilkel Hernandez will miss the 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Tigers officials confirmed yesterday that the right-hander had surgery late last month. The 21-year-old was pitching in Detroit’s fall instructional league in Lakeland, Florida when ligament damage was discovered in his elbow.
Hernandez should be ready for the 2022 season following rehabilitation.
