MONTEREY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A suspect has been arraigned following a fatal Monday night shooting north of Allegan.
According to a statement released by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and first responders were dispatched just before midnight to a home near the area of 130th Avenue and 30th Street. Sheriff’s authorities said they found a man “lying in the driveway that had sustained a possible gunshot wound and had suffered obvious fatal injuries.”
Witnesses at the scene said that a person who had visited the home had shot one of the residents outside and then fled. Information about the suspect and the vehicle used in the flight has been sent to other law enforcement agencies.
Later in the morning, according to Sheriff’s Captain Chris Kuhn, the vehicle was spotted in the area of 134th Avenue and 24th Street, damaged after crashing into a tree. The suspect was subsequently located in the Grand Rapids area and was taken into custody.
Friday Nolan Woodsworth was arraigned on Open Murder charges in Allegan District Court and is currently held without bond in the Allegan County Jail.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Cody Cline, who lived at the residence where the incident occurred.
