HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two more Ottawa County residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the death total to 72 people who’ve died from the virus since mid-March. The death toll in Allegan County remains at seven, but the average daily number of people getting ill from the virus has tripled since the start of this month.
Statewide, 159,119 people have tested positive for the virus and 7,317 have died. More than 4.5 million tests have been administered among Michigan’s population of more than 10 million.
Across the U.S., more than 220,000 have died; more than eight million US residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Worldwide, the number of people who’ve tested positive has reached 40 million people and more than one million people have died.
