HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — An 88-year-old Jenison man critically injured after a head-on traffic crash in Georgetown Township has since died, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt.
He’d been driving a Toyota Sienna headed west on Chicago Drive but he was in the eastbound lanes, police said.
He crashed into a Honda CR-V with a 27-year-old Grand Rapids woman at the wheel, just east of Cottonwood Just after 7:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. The head-on crash left the man pinned in his Toyota. Georgetown Township firefighters extricated the critically injured man and he went by ambulance to Metro Hospital for treatment.
The Grand Rapids woman went to an area hospital for treatment of what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes of Chicago Drive were closed for several hours, for scene investigation and clean-up.
