HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Tulip Time Festival officials and the City of Holland Parks officials are partnering to host the 2020 Community Tulip Planting Day, set for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Window on the Waterfront Park, Sixth Street, between Columbia and College avenues. Volunteers are needed for two shifts 8-10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to noon. (Oct. 17, 2020, is the rain date.)
After canceling the 2020 festival because of the COVID-19 pandemic, plans are underway for 2021. Each fall the City of Holland plants tulip bulbs throughout downtown Holland, city parks, and Tulip Lanes. Community Planting Day volunteers help plant more than 75,000 tulip bulbs at Window on the Waterfront Park, helping Parks Department employees.
“This is a great way to get involved with the Festival,” said Gwen Auwerda, Tulip Time’s executive director. “And, in the spring, you’ll have bragging rights and can show off the tulips you planted to your friends and family!” To ensure the safety of all, specific measures and requirements will be in place.
