In May, Resilience first launched a Safe Nights campaign, noting the community’s generosity — $74,000 of the $179,000 raised between March 13 and July 31, 2020, came from individual donors — helping survivors fleeing abuse obtain safe, secure housing, at a time when the Resilience shelter was at capacity.
Without financial support, many survivors are forced to return to a dangerous home. Safe Nights campaign donations help cover rental security deposits, first and last month’s rent, couches and beds, initial utilities and setting up safety measures (such as video security systems), as well as other supports.
