HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 15-year-old Hudsonville girl went by ambulance to Spectrum DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Friday evening after the car she was driving collided with a semi-tractor trailer, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lt. J. Douglas.
The crash happened just before 5:15 p.m. on Byron Road at 48th Avenue in Zeeland Township.
Police indicated the girl, driving a Chevy Traverse, failed to yield the right of way to the semi, hauling an empty trailer west on Byron. The crash sent the Chevy into a ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Zeeland firefighters extricated the teen from the Chevy. She went by AeroMed to DeVos Children’s; her passenger, a 47-year-old Hudsonville woman, went by AMR Ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth. The driver of the semi, a 59-year-old Fennville man, was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
