KANSAS CITY, MO (WTVB) – Maikel Franco’s solo homer ignited a four-run sixth inning that snapped a 4-all tie and the Kansas City Royals held on for an 8-7 win over the Detroit Tigers in Kansas City THursday night.
Salvador Perez hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Adalberto Mondesi went 4-for-4 with two RBI for KC. Jesse Hahn got the win in relief and Jake Newberry his first save. Miguel Cabrera and Willi Castro hit two-run homers for Detroit. Both ended the night with three RBI.
Starter Michael Fulmer gave up four runs on seven hits in two-and-a-third innings while Tyler Alexander took the loss in relief.
Spencer Turnbell goes to the hill tonight for Detroit against Kansas City’s Brad Keller.
