HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Federal and county officials are investigating a plane crash that killed two people — now identified as Dale DeWeese, 61, and Joyce DeWeese, 59, — at Ottawa Executive Airport, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were among those responding to the report of the 6:37 a.m. crash, at 5923 Byron Rd., along with Zeeland Township firefighters, an AMR Ambulance crew and Federal Aviation Authority officials.
The initial investigation indicated the the two-seat, small-engine 2006 Byerley RV9A crashed shortly after take off, on the airport’s northeast runway.
Mr. DeWeese’s Facebook page indicates he was a senior engineer at Steelcase, and had attended Owosso High School. Western Michigan University and Michigan State University.
The Sheriff’s announcement indicated details would be released later in the day.
