ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Alcohol may have been a factor in a two-vehicle injury crash overnight in Allendale.
That’s according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer after a deputy came upon the scene around 3:34 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020. A black SUV was eastbound, in the right lane, on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) near 52nd Avenue. when it turned sharply to the left and into the path of a red compact car in the left lane. The subsequent collision caused the smaller vehicle to roll over several times.
The two drivers involved – a 20-year-old Rockford woman and a 19-year-old Allendale woman – were treated at the scene for minor injuries. A 20-year-old passenger in the compact car and three 18-year-olds in the SUV – all women from Allendale – were not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
