A beach hazards statement remains in effect through 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, and a flood advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2020, through 5 a.m. Friday, including Allegan, Ottawa and Muskegon counties.
Beachgoers can expect high waves — from 6 to 9 feet — strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions. Piers will likely be heavily swamped by waves. People are advised to stay off the piers and out of the water. Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water.
Parking lots and roads along the immediate Lakeshore will experience minor flooding, with some erosion of beaches and sand dunes anticipated.
