TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 56-year-old Marne woman suffered serious injuries in a single vehicle crash near her hometown on Thursday afternoon.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill didn’t immediately disclose the name of the motorist as he and other first responders were dispatched to 8th Avenue near Country Lane, between Lincoln and Johnson Streets, around 4:15 PM. It appears that the woman had dozed off behind the wheel of her SUV when her southbound vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned. Rescuers had to extricate her from the vehicle, and she was taken to an undisclosed Grand Rapids hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Dill added that there were no passengers in the SUV, the driver was buckled up, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
