HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A beach hazards statement is in effect from 2 p.m. today through late tonight, for Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren counties.
Beachgoers are asked to stay out of the water, as high waves and strong currents create dangerous conditions for swimmers.
So far this summer, more than 20 people have drowned in Lake Michigan, most during these kinds of red-flag conditions
Northerly winds hitting 25 mph or more will create 3- to 4-foot-high waves along the lakeshore at beaches Grand Haven and Holland state parks and further south.
