ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Transportation officials are preparing to begin work next week on a months-long resurfacing project for M-40.
The $1.6 million project involves repaving more than 7.5 miles of M-40 from Baseline Road north to M-89. The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to break ground on the project on Monday, June 1st with work expected to continue through September 25th.
Lane closures will be in place for motorists traveling on the highway, with both directions of traffic sharing a lane with signals directing the movement of vehicles.
MDOT said in a released statement that the project is meant to extend the life of the roadway and ensure motorist safety.
