HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The annual look at the Community Development Block Grant program for the Tulip City is set for this evening.
During tonight’s 5:30 PM Work-Study session, the Holland City Council will discuss a proposed amendment to the current CDBG Action Plan that would enable the Tulip City to access funds available to entitlement communities via the federal CARES Act.
Zeeland Congressman Bill Huizenga claimed last week on “WHTC Morning News” that, according to the National League of Cities, Michigan is among a number of states that has blocked federal funds going to smaller cities under the CARES act, and fellow Republican Congressman Fred Upton of St. Joseph has also heard similar grumblings from communities in his sixth US House district. “We want to make sure that all communities with COVID 19 are impacted positively,” Upton said during his weekly “WHTC Morning News” appearance on Tuesday. “They’re going to get funding, and there’s going to be no penalties … from the Governor who would say that the state is going to cut its funding because those are additional (federal) funds. We’re making sure that there is not a rebound in terms of a claw back of those funds.”
