AUGUSTA, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Due to popular demand, beginning this Friday, the Barn Theatre in Augusta, MI will begin a series of it’s 12th showing for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Based on the 70’s horror and sci-fi musical of the same name starring Tim Curry, the story follows the couple Brad and Janet, who get stranded one night and seek shelter in a nearby castle.
The castle turns out to be owned by Dr. Frank N. Furter, a mad scientist who is also an alien transvestite.
A cult movie phenomenon, the Rocky Horror Picture Show is known for several hit songs, including The Time Warp.
“ROCKY is always so much creative fun for our company and the audience, it was time to bring it back,” Producer Brendan Ragotzy said in a press release. “Our fall extravaganza is the perfect time. We’re so excited to share with the audience the new surprises in store with this ROCKY!”
Ragotzy will also star in the production as hunchbacked handyman character Riff Raff.
Normally when the Rocky Horror Picture Show is screened or acted, fans are encouraged to bring specific props to throw onstage, however, the Barn Theatre is asking fans to leave all props at home. Costumes are still encouraged for this production.
The production has been rated R for restricted audiences.
