JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 28-year-old Zeeland man has been identified as the driver who lost his life in a two-vehicle crash south of Hudsonville on Friday morning.
On Saturday afternoon, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong confirmed that Aris Melton was the motorist behind the wheel of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado that had been northbound on 24th Avenue, shortly after 9 AM, and apparently drove through a stop sign at Byron Road, colliding with a semi that had stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a left turn. The force of the crash caused the pick up to be pinned under the semi’s trailer. Melton was declared dead at the scene by the Ottawa County Medical Examiner’s office; the unnamed semi driver was not injured.
Wildfong added that the crash remains under investigation.
