ROBINSON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A two-vehicle crash between Allendale and Nunica on Saturday evening hospitalized a 60-year-old Zeeland woman.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, the woman was a passenger in a sedan that was northbound on M-231 when it collided with another sedan at the junction of M-231 and Lincoln Street around 6:30 PM. “Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that a 21-year-old California man was driving his Nissan Altima eastbound on Lincoln Street when he failed to stop for the stop sign at M-231,” Dill said. “This intersection is a two-way stop where north/south M-231 does not have to stop.”
The northbound Buick Park Avenue, driven by a 54-year-old Zeeland man, was apparently traveling at or near the posted 65-mile-per-hour speed limit on that stretch of highway.
The woman was taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening arm and neck injuries, while the two drivers involved were not hurt.
Although no names were immediately disclosed, Dill did add that all three persons involved in the crash were buckled up as an investigation into the incident continues.
