HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 50-year-old Holland man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Holland’s North Side during the early morning hours on Sunday, July 14, 2019.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, the motorist was driving northbound on 136th Avenue around 1 AM when his Toyota Avalon went through a flashing red signal at Riley Street. His vehicle was struck by a westbound Toyota Corolla that was proceeding through the intersection on a flashing yellow light. The force of the collision sent both vehicles off of the roadway and into a grove of trees.
The Holland man was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of head injuries, while the 27-year-old Grand Rapids man driving the Corolla, along with a 29-year-old Grandville man who was his passenger, were not hurt.
No names were immediately disclosed, but Dill did add that all three persons involved were buckled up as the crash remains under investigation.
