OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Tallmadge Township crash sent a Grand Rapids man to Spectrum Health Butterworth just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Sykes.
It happened at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and Eighth Street, when Grand Rapids resident Scott Vant Zelfde, 47, was drivng south on Eighth and Allendale resident Annah Chouinard, 30.
Vant Zelfde was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids, where he was listed in good condition Chouinard was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both drivers told police they had the green light at the intersection.
Just about 20 minutes later, deputies were called to a single-car crash on I-96 in Polkton Township. In that case, when 52-year-old Thomas Dusette lost control of his vehicle and hit the median.
Dusette went by ambulance for treatment at Hackley Hospital with non-life-threatening, Sykes said. Deputies did not find any witnesses to the crash.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
