UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – After winning all eight openers for the first time ever, the high school football teams from the Lakeshore finally tasted defeat on Thursday night as the second weekend of prep gridiron action began. Suffering setbacks were Zeeland West, by a 41-26 score at Grand Rapids Christian, and Hamilton, by a 35-27 margin at home to Coopersville. Winning for the second time in as many starts were Holland, 43-8 at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix; Holland Christian, 40-16 over visiting Forest Hills Eastern; West Ottawa, 42-41 in double overtime at Forest Hills Central; and Fennville, 22-19 at Buchanan.
On Friday evening, Saugatuck travels to Watervliet in a game that Gary Stevens will bring to you, beginning at 6:40 PM, on 99 7 and 1450 WHTC, while Zeeland East entertains Detroit Douglass.
