GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 26-year-old man could face half a century behind bars.
A sentence of between nearly 19 years and five decades in prison was handed down this morning by Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing to Aaron Joshua-John Young, who was convicted of second-degree murder and felony firearms charges by a jury 11 days ago in the September 11, 2016 shooting death of 22-year-old Anthony Lamb outside of the Holland Hookah Lounge off of Butternut Drive on Holland’s North Side. It took the panel two full days of deliberation after five days of testimony and arguments to come down with a verdict. Prosecutors say that Young instigated a fight between two groups that led to the fatal gunfire, while the defense countered that it was an act of self-defense, with Young himself taking the stand during the trial.
Two others involved in the altercation are already serving prison terms for related charges.
