GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Even Justin Roebuck admitted that he was “very pleased” with how well the November 7 election results were handled by his department.
The first totals in 29 Ottawa County precincts that participated in the municipal election came shortly after the polls closed at 8 PM, with unofficial final numbers that indicated Holland Mayor Nancy DeBoer won reelection coming before 8:30 PM. Clerk Roebuck said that, “Our team here has worked very hard in implementing this system, and I think that, on the ground, (for) our election workers, it just makes it an easier process all the way around for them and for our local clerks, so we’re very, very pleased.”
A “soft” rollout in the August primary election, in which there were votes in just six jurisdictions, enabled Roebuck and his office to work out some of the “kinks” in the new system, and he felt confident that next year’s elections in May, August and November will be smoothly run.
