LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A member of the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office has been appointed to a statewide panel.
Governor Snyder on Friday announced that Juanita Bocanegra of Holland will fill a vacancy on the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan. An assistant prosecutor based in the department’s Holland office, she brings experience as a practicing attorney in the private sector as well as her background working under County Prosecutor Ron Frantz to the 15-member panel that develops and maintains “a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of Michigan’s Hispanic and Latino residents,” according to a statement from the Governor’s office.
This past April, Bocanegra received a Minority Business Champion award from the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce, in part for being a co-founder of Professional Lakeshore Latinas to unite local business professionals with mentoring, networking and support. She will serve the remainder of Carlos Sanchez’ three-year term on the Commission, through December 10th of 2018, and the state Senate does have a say on her appointment.
