HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 13-year-old student at Holland Christian Schools has died of an internal brain injury.
Carter Ryan Brink died on Tuesday, June 20. According to his obituary, Carter who loved playing soccer and was known for his kind and tender heart. He was a member of Providence Church where he was active in the Middle School Youth Group.
There is a Facebook page set up called “Carter’s Crew” and a Go Fund Me Page has also been set up to help with medical bills and funeral expenses.
Carter is survived by his parents, Curt and Michelle Brink of Holland; brothers and sister, Mason, MacKenzie, Caden, and Chase.
Carter had a love for stuffed animals and the family invites you to bring a stuffed animal (They need to be new and from a smoke free environment), that will be donated to the PICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
It is the sixth time is just over a year that Holland Christian Schools is mourning a loss.
Just this week the family of 16-year-old Ryan Hoekstra who died in a boating accident a year ago Monday, June 19, remembered their son with a day of kindness. In May High school technology support specialist Chris Casey was found dead in his home. This past April, 13-year-old Cassie Delf died of a rare form of leukemia a day after being diagnosed with the disease. In March, elementary school student Caroline Kanis, 9, died of an inoperable brain tumor. Teacher and soccer coach Kevin Witte died in a car accident in September.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Central Wesleyan Church, 446 W. 40th St. Holland with Rev. Brian VanSoelen officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday, June 24, and 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
