HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Public Schools officials were taking no chances on Tuesday morning with a report of a suicidal suspect in the area of Holland High School.
Ottawa County dispatchers say that Holland Public Safety officers and Sheriff’s Deputies were responding to a report of a suicidal person with a gun near the Van Raalte Avenue campus. The suspect’s vehicle was stopped and the unnamed suspect was taken into custody without incident.
District officials say that the high school and the district administration’s offices went into a five-minute, low-level lockdown around 9:45 AM as a precautionary measure before they were notified of the arrest. They also dismissed reported social media postings made by students at the time that claimed of a shooting at the school.
The incident remains under investigation.
