SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) – Two adults and two children are safe after jumping off their burning boat near Pettys Bayou in Spring Lake Sunday, August 15.
The boat experienced engine problems and caught fire. Sgt. Cal Kuening of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department Marine Division tells WZZM TV 13 that everyone including the two and four-year-old children jumped into the water and safely swam to shore. The children were wearing life jackets.
Police and firefighters responded just after 12:20 p.m. and extinguished the fire and towed the boat to a dock.
Ferrysburg Fire Department and the Coast Guard assisted in putting out the fire.
