GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – Two Hudsonville teens received minor injuries when their vehicle lost control while racing another vehicle Thursday evening.
Sgt. Matt Wilfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says Cooper Holycross, 17, of Hudsonville was west on Baldwin near 48th Avenue in Georgetown Twp at speeds of 70-80 miles per hour when he lost control as his breaks locked up when he approached a stop sign. He hit a telephone box and a traffic sign before stopping. The other vehicle that Holycross clamed to be racing did not stop at the crash.
Holycross’ front seat passenger Bryce Scheib, 17, sustained minor injuries, but declined treatment. Both were wearing their seatbelts.
Holycross was cited for careless driving. The crash remains under investigation.
