HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Over 30 guns, body armor, drugs and cash were seized at a raid at a Holland Township home on June 16, 2016.
MLIVE reports that the West Michigan Enforcement Team or WEMET searched Khamdeng Sam Phanthourath’s house in the 5300 block of Butternut Drive after receiving a Silent Observer Tip in September that “Sam from Butternut” was selling drugs and growing marijuana in blueberry fields.
Special agent Geoffrey Yandl for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives wrote in his complaint that Phanthourath admitted to police that he sells pills and marijuana and sometimes takes guns in trade.
The break in the case came when a burglary occured near the suspects home where several guns, crossbows and ammunition were stolen. In March WEMET conducted a raid at a suspected heroin dealer’s home and it was there that they recovered a Barnett Crossbow Quad 400. It had been stolen by Phanthourath’s neighbor in March.
In Phanthourath’s home the undercover drug team found about 30 firearms, ammunition, a homemade silencer, body armor, two inert grenades, marijuana, prescription drugs and $9,000.
A detention hearing was held in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids Wednesday.
