MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – A 19-year-old Hudsonville man has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation at the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry before a decision is made on whether he is competent to stand trial on unlawful imprisonment and attempted use of a dangerous weapon charges. Muskegon County prosecutors claim that Kalani Rae Tanis broke into a parked vehicle in Fruitport on September 26th with a woman and her two-year-old son in the back seat and tried to use pepper spray on her. She was able to honk the horn and scream, leading Tanis to flee before being arrested a short time later.
