LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) recently presented its Achievement Honor Roll Awards in Lansing to exemplary consumers, employers, and community partners who deal with blindness or partial blindness in Michigan.
The awards are presented annually to those who achieve their goals for employment and/or independent living after vision loss; employers who have shown leadership in hiring people who are blind or visually impaired; and companies are recognized for their collaboration with BSBP in increasing opportunities for people who are blind.
There were seven consumer winners at this year’s awards, with one winner coming from the Holland area. Ellen Seymour had been a client of the BSBP for several years, starting as a Youth Low Vision client. Recently, Seymour graduated with a degree from Grand Valley State University in Nursing. She now works at Great Lakes Adventist Academy in Edmore, MI, where she is a campus nurse.
Notable company winners include Michigan Works! of Grand Rapids and the United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan.
