UNDATED (WHTC) – Both Hope College and Grand Valley State University are welcoming back their alumni for Homecoming activities this weekend.
In Holland, Hope’s weekend begins this evening with “A Homecoming on 8th Street” reception at the Knickerbocker Theatre, while various groups are holding special events to commemorate milestone reunions and anniversaries. Tomorrow, the 6 PM football game between the Flying Dutchmen and visiting Alma highlights a full day of activities that includes a morning 5K run at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium, a community reception at the Dow Center hosted by school President John Knapp, an open house at the Miller Center for Musical Arts, and a number of other athletic contests.
Meanwhile, in Allendale, GVSU’s weekend begins in earnest this evening with a reception at the Alumni House and the induction of new members into the Laker Hall of Fame, including quarterback Cullen Finnerty and coach Chuck Martin. Tomorrow, the 7 PM football game between the Lakers and visiting Findlay highlights a full day of activities that includes a morning 5K run at the Kelly Family Sports Center, a showing of a documentary on the GVSU baseball team’s trip to Cuba, a farewell to the soon-to-be-closing Ravine Apartments, and a number of athletic contests.
