WRIGHT TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 30-year-old Walker man spent Saturday night on a hospital bed after a three-vehicle pileup in northeast Ottawa County. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, 32-year-old Cheyenne Cross was southbound on 16th Avenue north of Marne, while 18-year-old Zachary Wassink of Grand Rapids was northbound. Cross attempted to turn left and turned into the path of Wassink. The collision caused Cross’ vehicle to careen into a vacant, parked pickup truck. The two drivers and a passenger in Wassink’s vehicle were all buckled up and unhurt; Joseph Smitter wasn’t buckled up and hit his head on the dashboard, causing minor injuries that led to a trip to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
