WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners is expected to render a decision this afternoon about whether or not to reinstall a sign with a Biblical phrase at Hager Park. The county’s parks department took down the sign last year after a Michigan civil rights group threatened a lawsuit on behalf of two unnamed, offended Jenison residents. The sign had reportedly been part of the agreement that the county made with Titus Hager when he deeded the land off of 28th Avenue and Bauer Road five decades ago. The board will go behind closed doors with the county’s legal counsel before rendering a decision.
