DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Robbie Grossman’s two run walk off homer in the last of the tenth inning gave the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Friday night at Comerica Park. Grossman connected off of his former roommate Justin Wilson. They were both drafted by Pittsburgh in 2008 and were Instructional League roommates at one time.
Bryan Garcia was credited with the win. Tiger starter Casey Mize did not figure in the decision. Mize worked five innings and struck out seven while allowing a run and five hits.
The Tigers host the Yanks again on Saturday afternoon starting at 4:10 p.m.. Spencer Turnbull is scheduled to start for the Tigers against Deivi Garcia for the Yanks.
