SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 50-year-old Covert man is slated for arraignment in South Haven District Court today on attempted murder charges stemming from a Friday morning shooting outside of South Haven.
According to South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson, officers responded to a call at an undisclosed location of a woman claiming that she was shot. First responders were able to tend to the victim’s wounds and transported her to a unnamed hospital, but not before she was able to identify the suspect, while three children in the residence at the time were not hurt and were turned over to other family members.
Based on the victim’s description, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies and Covert Township police converged on a residence in Covert and took the suspect into custody without any apparent incident.
Detectives believe that this incident was a domestic dispute and that no other persons were involved. The victim is expected to recover from her wounds.
The case remains under investigation.
