HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The first half of the US-31 reconstruction project on Holland’s North Side is in the proverbial home stretch.
According to a Friday statement from Leo Evans of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Muskegon TSC, “Work on the west intersection approaches along US-31 between 8th and Quincy Street is completed. All of the intersections are reopened to thru and right turn movements at US-31.
“Next week and the following week most of our work will be focused on paving along southbound US-31 from James Street south to 8th Street, including the ramps on southbound US-31 at Chicago Drive and portions of the southbound ramps at Lakewood Boulevard. Also during the week of August 1st, crews will begin installing signing, pavement markings, and guardrail along the new southbound roadway in preparation for switching all northbound and southbound traffic onto the new southbound roadway so we can begin work on the northbound roadway.”
Evans added that the switchover is tenatively scheduled for Sunday evening, August 7th, based on continued progress of the project and good weather. An early November overall completion is still on target.
