HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Former Holland Public School Superintendent Frank Garcia has filed to run for the District 1 Ottawa County Commissioner seat, according to the Holland Sentinel.
Garcia is the only candidate to file with the county for the seat so far. First District Commissioner Stu Visser would be up for election in the fall, but told the paper he’ll not run again.
District ONE covers Park Township, Port Sheldon Township and Holland’s Ward 4, Precinct 8.
Garcia is a former Holland High principal and Holland Public School’s superintendent and was principal at Holland High School and West Middle School.
If his name sounds familiar is could also be because his family includes another politician — daughter Daniela is a Republican state representative. Frank Garcia and his wife, Yolanda, have lived in Ottawa County for 39 years and have another adult child, Damian Garcia.
