HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Holland teen who may have fallen asleep at the wheel is at Holland Hospital being treated for a head injury and possible facial fractures after an early morning crash Monday, August 29, in Holland Township.
Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Bob Ruster says deputies responded to the crash around 7:10 a.m. Ruster says 18-year-old Bryan Medina was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey was westbound on Riley Street and may have fallen asleep before crossing over the center line and side swiping a 2004 Chevy van driven eastbound by Randall Smith, 63, of Zeeland.
After the side swipe Medina’s vehicle traveled off the south side of Riley street and struck a fence.
Medina’s current condition is unknown. Smith was not injured in the crash and both were wearing their seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
