HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A two-car crash on Douglas Avenue in Holland yesterday left one vehicle on fire and both drivers in the hospital. At around 8 pm last night, a 55 year old resident of Holland was driving his Ford Explorer quite fast on west bound Douglas Avenue when he crossed the center line.
A second vehicle, driven by 42 year old Ryan Hickman, was heading east bound on Douglas and tried to avoid hitting the Ford Explorer. Hickman was unable to avoid the collision and his vehicle sent the Ford Explorer rolling at least three times. When the vehicle came to a stop, it caught on fire. Both drivers were pulled out of their vehicles by onlookers. Hickman was taken to Holland Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The owner of the Ford Explorer was also taken to Holland Hospital with back and leg injuries, but was released and taken to Ottawa County Jail for a misdemeanor associated with the crash. His name will be released pending his arraignment.
