HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Two issues that may have long-term ramifications in Holland were approved by City Council last night.
Construction on the Holland Energy Park near the Eastern Gateway, which features a 114-megawatt, natural gas-fueled power plant, should begin next month after a 145 million-dollar contract with Barton Malow was affirmed. The new facility should be online by early 2017.
In addition, by a 6-3 vote, Council approved on first reading an ordinance amendment allowing overnight parking on most Holland streets between May 15th and October 15th. This lifts a decades-long ban, and comes after a four-and-a-half-month trial period this past spring and summer. A public hearing and a final vote on the matter comes in two weeks.
